Light and shadow
Light is the creative impulse that guided me in the creation of my works.
Light is the essence of life. Without light there is no existence, no development, no vitality. It is the source of energy that permeates food chains and therefore makes life possible.
Without light, nature would be a gray void. It is the light that makes life shine and gives it its incomparable beauty.

The shadow provides depth, emphasizes contours and gives them an additional dimension. The play of light and shadow creates fascinating patterns that create visual dynamics.
The shadow also holds a metaphorical meaning. It symbolizes the duality of life, the balance of light and darkness, joy and sadness. It reminds us that in every ray of light there is also a shadow hidden and that both light and shadow are part of our existence.
Concept
The combination of light and shadow in the porcelain objects invites the viewer on a journey of sensations. They arouse curiosity and create a gentle melancholy. It creates a unique atmosphere that gives each object an individual story and interpretation. An interactive relationship is created between the viewers and the porcelain objects, which enables an individual and personal experience.
Drawings
The sketches served as a starting point to flesh out ideas and supported the creative implementation of the actual objects. They offered opportunities to explore different variations and created space for experimental design and further development of the forms. They were not only practical tools, but also sources of inspiration that made it possible to design the objects in an individual and free way.
Execution
With the steady rhythm of the wheel, a new piece gradually emerges. First, different vessels are created on the potter's wheel, which trimmed to get the desired look. The rolls are then thrown and assembled into a unit.
This process requires time, patience and close attention to every detail. Every handle and every movement is carried out consciously and with concentration. The connection between form, structure and texture is created in a balanced interplay.
Individuality
Each individual roll has its own story, an individual texture and shape. But only in their united harmony do they create a three-dimensional depth. The play of light and shadow along the gentle curves and contours creates an aesthetic tension that breathes life into the object.
Through the targeted design and placement of the individual rolls in my objects, the shadow is used to create depth. The shadows play along the shapes and enhance their contours, resulting in a dynamic and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The deliberate rotating grooves within the rolls enhance the dynamic look and are reinforced by the glaze application.
Oxidation
In an oxidizing atmosphere where sufficient oxygen is present, porcelain develops a warmer color, characterized by soft, creamy tones and warm white.
These colors create a calming atmosphere that evokes a feeling of calm and security, similar to the sight of soft sunlight illuminating the room. They invite the viewer to experience the warmth and purity of the color spectrum and to immerse themselves in a harmonious aesthetic.
The targeted combination of black and white porcelain creates a contrasting visual play. This deliberately chosen contrast creates details and nuances of gray tones.
The black porcelain represents elegance, sophistication and has a certain mysterious aura. The deep, dark color creates a strong visual impact and gives the objects a noble appearance.
Black and white
In wood firing, the pieces are fired in a traditional wood kiln, with the fire, ash and flames having a direct impact on the final result. In the reducing atmosphere, i.e. a lack of oxygen, a cooler body is created because the small iron content in the porcelain turns blue when reduced.
Wood firing is a captivating process that requires patience and experience. Every firing is unique and always offers the opportunity to achieve surprising effects. It is an interplay between material, fire and craftsmanship.
The addition of soda and salt creates changes in the glaze and the surface. The result is a lively and unpredictable color, texture and look that gives each piece an individual touch. The hint of ash gives the pieces a subtle touch of gray tones.
Wood burning is a tribute to the past and a connection to nature. The fascination with wood firing is immeasurable and the results are always an impressive interplay of craftsmanship and nature.
Wood firing
When making my objects, I discovered that their beauty and significance are not limited to a clear use. The variety of shapes and the freedom to design without a specific purpose allow me to let my creativity run wild and create individual porcelain objects.
Looking into the future, I am looking forward to further developments and experiments. The world of ceramics offers endless opportunities to further develop my techniques and explore new design ideas.
